We spent the
morning having the RV’s plumbing serviced. There was a big freeze in Texas a few
weeks ago, and although we had pumped antifreeze through the pipes, the toilet
flush valve had burst. We didn’t discover this until we connected to town
water, flushed the antifreeze out and pressurised the system. The service guy was
efficient, but he had to go to get parts, so we weren’t ready to hit the road
until after lunch.
Driving out
of Fort Worth was interesting! Lots of the US spaghetti style highway
interchanges, and constant lane changes to go the correct way. Finally out on
the open road, very flat and lots of tiny towns to drive through. About 4pm it
was getting dark, so we found an RV park at Hico and parked up at 4.30.
Twighlight comes early and its dark by about 5.30 or so. We had planned to be
about 2 hours futher South today, but we prefer to be camped up before dark.
Hico looks
very old. The town slogan is “where everybody is somebody”.
