1 June - Bandon to Gold Beach

First day of summer! We went into Bandon and wandered around the historic waterfront. We dropped in to “Cranberry Sweets and More”, a sweet lovers paradise! All kinds of fudge, lollies and biscuits and almost everything had a tasting plate. We tried key lime pie, lemon pie and pumpkin pie fudge, cranberry jellies, jalapeno chocolate and chocolate covered bacon (weird and kind of eeewww). Then we went to the Farmers Market and tried cheesecake, in savoury flavours as well as sweet. We had blue cheese, caramelised onion and thyme, golden tomato, spinach and fetta, jalapeno, gorse flower and sour cherry. We ended up buying the caramelised onion and thyme and the blue cheese. Leaving Bandon we drove through lush farmlands and cranberry bogs, with spectacular views of the sea and the sea stacks.

We stopped for a while at Hughes historic homestead. Interesting and they had a group playing Celtic music in the parlour.

Then on to Gold Beach where we booked into an RV site with a hot tub and deck. Dinner, then a glass of Washington red in the hot tub. Bliss!
